Join two of Australia’s most experienced pre and post-natal specialists on this exciting two-day workshop focused on safely including a pregnant women or new mother in a general yoga class with a variety of appropriate poses, practice and pranayama.
The IYTA's Julie Willoughby and Katie Brown will guide you on:
- Yoga for common pregnancy symptoms including pain and discomfort in the back, pelvis and wrists, heartburn/indigestion, swelling and headaches
- How to safely modify and adapt common yoga postures for pregnancy, which postures should be avoided and appropriate alternatives
- Common yoga practices for post-natal conditions such as abdominal separation, regaining core and pelvic floor tone, relieving neck, back and shoulder tension
- Yoga flow sequences for pregnancy
- Yoga flow sequences for post-natal
This course is run over a weekend and will include notes and optional ongoing mentoring. Ideal for experienced teachers who want to refresh their skills or newly graduated yogis and fitness professionals who wish to gain confidence in teaching preganant and post-natal women within a general class.

About the Instructors
Julia Willoughby trained with IYTA in 1999 and has since specialised in pre and post natal yoga which is her passion. Training as a Childbirth Educator deepened her knowledge and skills and she has had the privilege of attending many births over the years. Her love of working with pregnant women began with her massage therapy training in San Diego and by taking one of the first trainings for pre and post natal massage. She has taught massage and prenatal massage at Nature College for many years before moving to Canberra to set up her own business. Her favourite area of teaching is preparing women for an Active and empowered birth.
Katie is a senior yoga teacher with 23 years' experience. She teaches a range of classes from general to pre and post-natal yoga, mums and bubs yoga, chair yoga and yoga for special needs. She trained with IYTA in 2000-1 and lectures on both the IYTA's Teacher Training Course and the IYTA's Pre and Post Natal Yoga Teacher Training Course.
Katie is also a qualified massage therapist (ITEC), Infant massage educator (MA), doula (Optimum birth) and has done trainings in Children's Yoga (Zenergy Yoga) is a qualified Laughter Yoga Teacher and has studied Yin 1, Yin 2 and Yin 3 with Sarah Manning. She has also produced three DVDs, two CDs and an online yoga and massage program for the Huggies website, and is also the author of: Mother Me – a mum's guide to balance, wellbeing and harmony.
